Recommended Reading Order of the Jack Noble Novels

*** NOTE: This page is no longer maintained. Visit the following for the most up most up to date reading order and series information: https://ltryan.com/jack-noble/

I get this question from time to time. For some reason, I’ve avoided creating a simple post that people can reference, and instead, answer it individually. Hopefully, this post causes a little less grief for those who want to start at book one and go from there.

There’s actually two series when it comes to Jack. The Jack Noble Novels, and Noble Intentions.

The plan for the Jack Noble Novels is for them to be all over the place. They are stand alone with a main plot. The primary (and usually only) point of view character is Jack Noble. You should be able to read these in any order, however some novels may contain hints at previous books.

Noble Intentions is an ongoing saga with multiple point of view characters and persisting story threads. Jack shares the stage with his various partners, and we get a glimpse inside the heads of some of the antagonists in the series. Characters will come and go. Someone who made a brief appearance in one of the first episodes might be a major player in the season three book.

Coming soon will be a series of short novels featuring Clarissa. Bear and Mandy will also get their own series of novella to short novel length books. I’ll do my best to place these within the chronological order below.

Now on to the order of the books. This is a chronological listing of the books in the order in which they take place, not when they were written.

The individual episodes of Noble Intentions are the same the ones in the Season compilation books. Stick with the compilations and you’ll save 50% or so. The plan is for at least 5 more Noble Intentions seasons, as well as several more Jack Noble Novels. I love this group of characters, and at this time, I can’t imagine running out of ideas for them.

  1. Great books! Hard to put down. Happened onto the series three days ago and am on my third book! Love them!

    1. Thanks, Leah! Glad to hear you are finding them so enjoyable! I hear it is okay to give up cleaning, doing the dishes, sleeping, etc for a couple days to get them all read 🙂

  2. I just read Noble Beginnings.it’s been a while that I stayed up 3 hours past bedtime because I couldn’t put it down. Just downloaded episode 1. Can’t wait to start it.

    1. That’s awesome, Camille! Glad to hear Jack kept you up 🙂 I hope the rest of the books have the same effect. Both episode 1 and Season One are free at this time on Amazon. Make sure you grab the full Season One book.

  3. What a book move over Lee child’s, I couldn’t stop reading it. The action was relentless. It kept me entertained for hours. Well written, and well done.

  4. I went out for hip replacement surgery in April. That is when I started reading – and I mean reading. I read five books, then looked for something else to read. I had gotten an email notification about books that I might like, and when I got the one about Jack, I went to Amazon and took a look. From the first week in May through the first week in June, I finished all of the Jack Nobel books, and both season 1 and 2. I would stay up all night reading just to finish an episode. I love reading, and cannot wait for the next season of Jack to start. Will also be looking forward to the see what Bear/Mandy and Clarissa are going to be up to. Thanks for some good reading. I think I found myself another author to continue reading –

    1. I’m glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the stories! Nothing’s better than hearing that they kept you up late at night. There is lots more on the way. Best of luck with your recovery!

  5. I really enjoyed reading Noble Beginnings. I don’t expect that a whole lot of people believed that the ending for Gen Keller was a real scenario, but the scenes that you saw on tv in the Oval Office with Gen McCrystal and President Obama are Moore the exception than the rule in real life. It usually plays out more like the ending of this story. Generals generally die a political death, where the are politically neutered by those in power rather than publicly strung up like Saddam.
Great story! I’m anxiously waiting to read book 2.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the story. Thanks for the comments…well said. Hope you enjoy the next book in the series!

  6. I’m a voracious reader in my home, and always looking for books with action a/o historical romance – the book has to flow or I’m pulling my hair out (and I like my hair)! I’ve read over 100 books this year, in my spare time, and only a dozen or so have really brought a smile to my face throughout the read – I just finished Noble Intentions and my cheks hurt from all the grinning! I enjoyed not only Jack’s POV, but also gettting some of the story from Bear and Clarissa. It’s nice to know that you anticipate continued stories not only from Jack, but also from his friends. I don’t have much money, and with a 14 year old boy, stretching the pennies is sometimes a challenge – but for the enjoyment of a good book as MY only pleasure, I’m be sharing what I am able to with you – for the pleasure of reading more about these exciting characters! Please never give up on them and keep us readers clamoring for more!!

Thanks for your writing ability! Karin.

    1. Wow, thank you, Karen! I can’t tell how glad I am that you’ve discovered these books and have enjoyed your time with Jack and his crew. I hope you find the rest of the books to be as smile-inducing as the first. I have lots of plans for these characters, and some new ones too. I’m excited to get up every day and write about them. Best wishes!

    1. Lillie, I sent you an email. There is no reason to buy episodes 2-5, as they are available in the Season One compilation book, which is currently available for free.

  7. These books are amazing! My only frustration is that I have just finished Never Go Home and cannot find Noble Intentions season 4 on the kindle store anywhere?!!! Is it due to be released there soon? Also does it answer the questions left at the end of never go home? Like (spoiler alert) who is Marcia?!! Will start on the Clarissa Abbott book for now but would be great if you can let me know via email when season 4 is released? Also just realised I have not read Thin Line, which it says is #3, but has not appeared in the orders of books published at the back of the Noble Intentions series?! Please explain!!

    1. Season Four is in the works. It should answer the broad questions. I hope to have the drafts complete in a couple weeks, then it’ll head to editing, which usually doesn’t take too long. Use the sign up form on the side of the site or on the newsletter page and you’ll be notified as soon as a new book is released.

Thin Line – I write out of order sometimes. Part of the reason Season Four has taken so long is because of a character in the story who had too much backstory with Jack to fit into the book. So I decided to write about it and release prior to Season Four. It was supposed to be a short novel, but turned into a full-length book.

  8. I’ve read several “Jack Nobel” series books, and completed “Thine Line” a few minutes ago.
    WOW……..!
I couldn’t put it down after starting on it yesterday afternoon. I’m an ex-police officer and am now disabled, so I read every day, sometimes for hours on end. I enjoy this genre greatly. The characters are outstanding and come to life on every page!
The plots are keep you guessing and wanting more. I’ve not read them in order other than starting with the very first “Nobel”.
I have been and will continue to recommend this series and yourself to friends and family and of course anyone who will listen on social media.
Thanks again for great reads and keep em coming……….!

  9. Just read all of the Jack Noble books over the past few months…when does the next one come out?!?! I need more!!!!

  10. Hi Mr Ryan,
Just read your Jack Noble Intentions book, absolutely fantastic, hard to put down, fast paced and believable characters.
Thank you for your imaginative book, i will read more about Jack noble.

    1. Glad to hear you’ve discovered the series, Gary! Hope you enjoy the rest of the books as much as the first!

  11. Bought Noble Beginnings for my Dad as a xmas present only because his names Jack Noble but now he’s hooked

  12. Just read Noble Beginnings and The Recruit. I did enjoy your action packed style and will be continuing to follow the series. How ever I have a whinge, in the recruit you have the recruits in their barracks “standing to attention with their hands behind their backs”
Hands behind backs implies, to me, being “at ease” with feet apart, “at attention” implies hands at sides, thumbs along trouser seams.
Sorry to be a pinpricker but Marine based stories need to be accurate in small details that catch the eye of those who have done training.
    That said, keep on writing.

  13. I wish I had known that the Episode books were all contained in the Season books because I bought them all. One comment I have about your books, though. They’re not proofread. It’s not just your books. I find that with many authors. That’s the only pet peeve I have. Otherwise your books are great. Who’d have thought one person could get in so much trouble.

  14. Just got Kindle for Xmas. I have been reading Costco paperbacks. Lee Child, Brad Thor, Cussler, Baldachi, Sanford, etc. started perusing the kindle site. Next thing I know getting suggested posts on FB. One was for your Noble books. Did the download and now I am hooked. Writing is superb. Plots are well thought out. Characters believable. Keep it up. Glad to be along for the ride.

  15. Hi,
I have been reading all of your Jack Noble series and cannot put the books down.
I hope you continue writing about him for a long time.

I read at night and then on my lunch breaks.

    Love your books!

    1. Hi Lucy – thank you 🙂 Glad to hear you enjoy the series so much that you invite Jack to lunch with you! I have plan to write about Jack and his friends for a long time to come!

  16. Love all of your Jack Noble stories!

    Please keep writing them.

I read at night and on my lunch break.

  17. I read # 1 thru #3…at the end of #3 jack is on his way to wreak vengeance on somebody not named from a photo he was provided. Then I go to Amazon and buy Jack Noble number 4 and it is not making chronological sense. What happened to the end of number 3 and where can I find number 4, because Noble Intentions isn’t it. Signed, a very confused fan

    1. #4 is in fact #4. The chronological listing is not the order the books were written – book #4 was actually written first. From book #4 on the series flows one book to the next with very little time in between. There is more of a time gap after each of the first three books. That is why each starts with a date.

I might some day fill in the gap between #3 and #4, but the numbering on the series will not change.

  18. OMG, the Jack Noble books are hard to put down.
Just finished Never Cry Mercy and am now ready for the next book.

    Keep the great books coming!

  19. I’m so confused. I’m reading Noble Judgement and the character named Beck is in 2 places at once. He’s in SC with Jack, looking for Merrick and in Queens with Clarissa and just caught Paolo in the tunnel. There were other times too. He was trying to kill Jack and going to dinner with Clarissa. Can you explain?

  20. IT IS A BAD IDEA TO KEEP CHANGING THE TITLES OF YOUR BOOKS. I REALLY ENJOY YOUR WELL WRITTEN JACK NOVELS. GARY L. CLARK Ph.d.

  21. I’m a big fan of Lee Childs Jack Reached novel’s then I saw a post on Facebook saying if you love to Jack Reacher you would love Jack Noble so I downloaded your name and came up with a list of books a little confusing in the orders but I decided to try Noble intentions season 1 all I have to say is move over Jack Reacher I have a new superhero well done sir the Pocus fast-paced action packed and the noble just kicks ass from page 1 to page 527 you have a new fan for life this coming from a person who really doesn’t read a lot of books but I will be catching up on all your novels

  22. Hi! I am a recent fan of the Jack Noble series. Are there any compilation available for books 7 to 11 ? Cheaper than buying individually. I already have books 1-6. Thanks!!

    1. Hi – glad to see you found the series! Only the first six books are available in the compilation bundles. There currently aren’t any plans to bundle the rest of the series at this time.

  23. I love the Jack Noble series. Reading no 4 now. I was at a loss when Vince Flynn passed for my Mitch Rapp series but I’m finding Jack a good replacement. Keep them coming

  24. Ok, I am thoroughly confused. Noticed on Amazon books now about a character Jake Noble and the author is William Miller. Help me to understand what this is. Is this a copy cat version? Are they worth reading or is this all a joke?
It can’t be a joke. People have reviewed these books. What’s happening?

    1. Hi Debbie – I’m not affiliated with that other author or his series and can not endorse it. I know that the first book in his series came out much later than mine.

  25. I enjoyed all Jack’s books please ask Barns &Noble to List your book in order , by year
they make it hard to fellow which one is newest. .

Please remember Jack is a Marine when you write.

When is next K-9 book coming out? Liked very much.

Thank you, keep writing. Do your trust Frank ??

  26. Sorry had to stop reading the series about 50 pages into book #4, that is not really book & but really completely different characters. First off to make Clarissa a stripper and Jack just a plain old thug just doesn’t work for me. Hopefully in your next series try you can keep your characters consistent or at least provide a reason for the changes . No flow at all.

  27. Jack Noble … keeping the world safe one book at a time!!! Love the books! Very well written!!! Can’t seem to stop reading!!!! Just finished No. 7 and have already started No. 8. Thought I’d have a hard time finding another series after I finished the Mitch Rapp and Jack Reacher series. Jack Noble has been a very pleasant surprise. Thank for a great ride so far!!!

  28. Loving this series. Recently finished the Jack Reacher and Mitch Rapp series. Didn’t think there was anyone else as good until I? found Jack Noble! Thanks for the great entertainment!

  29. I was recently laid off so couldn’t afford to pay $14 to $25 for books. i found Jack Noble for $2.99 and some even free. I have read one through nine and absolutely love them. I have also read the Affliction books and i am hoping Fractured part two comes out soon. Thank you Mr. Ryan for a lot of enjoyable reading at a price i can afford.
