Avril Dahl
Returning to Sweden brings FBI Special Agent Avril Dahl closer to the history she has been trying to leave behind. A serial killer linked to her mother's death turns the place she grew up into the setting for a deeply personal investigation. Written by L.T. Ryan and Biba Pearce, the Avril Dahl novels draw on Scandinavian crime fiction's winter atmosphere, psychological tension and difficult questions about the pursuit of justice.
For readers who like atmospheric serial-killer investigations, an investigator with personal stakes, and suspense that builds through clues and character.

Cold Reckoning gives you the starting point for Avril's own series: her return to Sweden and the history behind her pursuit of the Frost Killer. Beginning here lets you encounter the information about her past as the opening novel reveals it, rather than learning it from a later book description.
Continue with Cold Legacy, Cold Mercy and Cold Witness, in that order. The sequence follows series numbering, so different paperback, ebook or audiobook dates do not change where a title belongs. In particular, Cold Mercy remains book three and Cold Witness remains book four.
For a first read, keep to this sequence rather than trying to rearrange the novels around events in Avril's earlier life. Her history is part of what the books explore. A numbered reading route preserves those discoveries without requiring a spoiler-filled chronology.
